Glorianne de Jongh graduated in 2015 for her Bachelor degree in International Hospitality & Tourism management at the Inter-Continental University of the Caribbean (ICUC). An important part of this program is a management internship in the fourth year of the program. Glorianne had her eyes set on Asia, but she soon realized that her dream to do her management internship in Japan was hard to achieve as she did not dominate the Japanese language which was a requirement.

She decided to do her internship in Spain but she was still dreaming about going to Asia. After research she chooses Guam as Guam is a small Island where they speak English and Spanish. She applied at Hyatt Regency’s Management Internship program at Guam while she was doing her internship in Spain and she was accepted. After the excitement reality slowly sank in and she started to arrange all the required papers to be able to do her one year management internship program at the F&B department at Hyatt Regency in Guam. “Let me tell you, it is a long road and it also is pricy. The Visa alone costs me $2000,00 and the ticket around $1600,00, so if anybody is willing to sponsor me they are all welcome” she says with a big smile.

On the question “What is your motivation to do a one year internship program while you already have your Bachelor degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management?” Glorianne replies: “If you look at the requirements in management job vacancies in the hospitality business they all require allot of experience. I think this is a great opportunity to gain more international experience. I hope that when I return to Curacao next year the Island is ready for a young professional with a Bachelor degree in International Hospitality & Tourism Management and with allot of international experience.”

Glorianne is one of the many exemplary students that we have enrolled at ICUC and who demonstrates the high level of our university. Our goal at ICUC is to deliver dynamic and disciplined students with the professional knowledge, skills and attitude to be competitive on an international level in the hospitality and tourism industry.

ICUC whishes Gloriane all the best in the coming year and we as a university are proud to have delivered once again a young professional who is ready challenge herself internationally before returning to Curacao and start her management career in the hospitality industry on dushi Kòrsou
